What would the holiday season be without the release of a new Air Jordan 11? For over a decade, Team Jumpman has delighted fans with a December drop of Michael Jordan’s iconic patent leather sneakers. This year, the tradition continues with the introduction of the “Gratitude” retro, which is an update to the 2006 Air Jordan 11 “Defining Moments Pack.” While two-pair box sets are no longer the norm for Brand Jordan, the re-release of the “White/Black/Metallic Gold” Jordans completes the “DMP” revival that began in 2020 with the Air Jordan 6.
At first glance, the Air Jordan 11 “Gratitude” appears to be an exact replica of its predecessor, which introduced gold accents to the “Concord” pair that Michael Jordan wore during his fourth NBA championship win. However, upon closer inspection, a significant difference emerges between the two pairs: the Holiday 2023 release boasts premium leather on the upper instead of the traditional ballistic mesh. The glossy “Black” patent leather, suitable for tuxedo attire, remains a standout feature, and various branding elements throughout the shoe receive a “Metallic Gold” makeover. The midsoles maintain a simple look, while the accompanying traction features a semi-translucent, off-white hue that complements this celebratory release.
