A Ma Maniére’s collaboration with Jordan Brand has been highly anticipated for some time. Despite numerous leaks, the boutique has officially confirmed that both colorways of their Air Jordan 5 will hit the market this November.
These sneakers will make their debut in conjunction with the premiere of a short film titled “Still We Rise,” which draws inspiration from the writings of James Baldwin and Maya Angelou. The film’s visuals and narrative pay homage to the literary contributions of these two revered authors while simultaneously celebrating the diverse and powerful identities within the Black community.
James Whitner, the visionary behind this project, emphasizes the idea that Black identity is not homogenous, and the Black experience is not uniform. He underscores the strength found in diversity and the unity that transcends the world’s misconceptions. The culmination of their previous collaborations leads to this moment, marking the conclusion of the first chapter, and it’s an invitation to the world to join in celebration. The focus is on unity and culture across various communities, the diaspora, and the world, while also acknowledging the shared experience of being valued for one’s culture without always feeling like you belong, yet persistently showing up to do the work—from dusk till dawn.
The A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 5, offered in two distinct colorways known as “Dawn” and “Dusk,” showcases a high-quality, luxurious suede upper. It features overlaid accents that exude a sense of opulence and grandeur. The A Ma Maniére branding is prominently displayed on the tongue and outsole, while a custom monogram replaces the shoe’s traditional cage. The custom jacquard pattern liner is a nod to their previous collaborative efforts. To complement the footwear, a small capsule collection of apparel is also available, featuring satin bombers, fine cotton anoraks, cozy fleece hoodies, and more.
The “Dawn” version of the A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 5 will be released online at a-ma-maniere.com on November 17th, with sizes available for women, as well as in PS (preschool) and TD (toddler) sizing. On the other hand, the “Dusk” colorway will be made exclusively available at a later date, specifically at A Ma Maniére’s physical retail locations.
